Peter Woodworth’s journey in masonry began in Streetsville, Ontario, as a high school student working a summer job at Canada Brick. It was there — at just 16 years old — that he was introduced to remedial brick staining. This early hands-on experience sparked a lifelong passion for the craft and aesthetics of masonry — and marked the infancy of what would become the brick staining industry.

Years later, after that summer job grew into full-time work, Peter co-founded Nawkaw Corporation — the company that would go on to create the masonry staining industry as we know it today. This groundbreaking company introduced a new way to restore and transform brick and masonry — blending craftsmanship, artistry, and technical precision on a scale never seen before.

As the industry matured, Peter identified a new challenge with broader potential: restoring painted brick surfaces once thought too far gone — and beyond the reach of traditional staining techniques. At the time, the only option was to repaint using a solid finish coat that further buried the original character of the brick.

But Peter envisioned something different.

His approach was so precise and thoughtfully developed that it made previously painted masonry surfaces appear as though they had never been altered at all — restoring the look of authentic brick and mortar using his proprietary faux finish application technique. Seeing both the need and the opportunity, he founded The Brick Painters Ltd. — once again applying his craft to create a new standard — and an entirely new industry, with results so convincing, they’ve had happy customers saying, “I don’t believe my eyes!”
